Flower Patches

We're having a sunny garden inspired week here......so i thought i'd show you this little flower patch pincushion, complete with bee button ..........and i also wanted to show some pictures of my real flower patch ...........
.............i finally grew some hollyhocks :) and the snails have only nibbled the leaves a bit......i love the daisies and cornflowers together, with some poppies growing behind, a nice bit of red, white and blue...
............there are some very orange gazanias which was a surprise but they do add a bit of zing to the pretty planting.....everything has been flowering since the sun began to shine, and lots of things have self seeded, such a bonus.......
...........the beehive is a composter, not a real beehive.......the victorian cloche was a present form mr p....such a lovely one too......the tangle of sweetpeas below became much more flowery since that picture was taken, as you can see in the lower photo......

.............i sooo love sweetpeas, these are my cheap and cheerful ones producing masses of blooms.......
...........a little garden scrapbook made ages ago and found again recently.....it's so interesting to keep these and look back at your garden and all the changes over the years.......though blogs do that too :)
.........a posy from my very own cutting patch............
..........and now in a pretty jug indoors........this week i had the pleasure of spending a sunny afternoon in the delightful garden of some lovely friends......when i have sorted out the pictures i look forward to sharing them too....other people's gardens are so inspiring, aren't they??
.....thank you for visiting me here in my little bit of blogland.....i so enjoy your visits......i will be taking a short blog break as we are off to the seaside in a couple of days time but i will be visiting you before i go :)........wishing you happy sunny days.....back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello lovely Helen!

What gorgeous pictures of your garden - it's looking so very pretty. I've heard much talk of cutting patches this year so I'm quite determined to create my own at some point. A jug of flowers is a joy but to have grown them all yourself? Wonderful.

I love the idea of your garden scrapbook too!

Do hope you're having a fabulous summer.

I think gardens are the most inspirational places ever!
Yours is beautiful Helen, I love your little red, white and blue patch. :)
Your sweetpeas are lovely too, I have to say mine have been a bit of a disappointment this year not so many flowers, I'm blaming the rain!!
I love the purple/pink colour of your hollyhocks, they are amazing plants. I have lots of buds on mine, just waiting for them to open.
Better go Helen, once I start talking flowers, I don't know when to stop. :) Have a fantastic holiday by the sea!

I really like the idea of a book filled with memories of each years garden! They do change so much! Love your little pincushion, they are my favorite sewing collectible!

Love the little pin cushion and your garden looks great too and the pretty posy. We have a couple of those bee hive composters made by my own handyman husband and the window cleaner was somewhat concerned when they first appeared as he was not keen on being stung!! Have a good holiday.

Goodness me your garden is just so pretty!

I love sweetpeas too but mine are dying off now. They did produce a fair few flowers but not nearly enough for the to be dying off so soon!

Love the victorian cloche that really is gorgeous! What a lovely garden you have.

Lovely to see your garden as always (I want some cornflowers - NOW!) & I love your bee button!
I hope you have a lovely sunny break. Please give my love to the seaside - I do miss being relatively near to the coast, but then I wouldn't see my granddaughter every day, so you can't have everything.
No doubt there will be some holiday pics for us to see before too long.

Just lovely! A compost bin so pretty? I want one like that! LOL!
Your journal is very inspiring...I need to do that. Flowers this year and here in the South U.S. has been a struggle. I'm learning though but oh how I would love to garden where you are...it produces wonderful gardens and gardeners! Your pin cushion is darling! I never cease to be amazed at your talent and creativity. Have a great week!

Hi,
I hope you don't mind my asking, avery new to blogland!,but what do you stuff your pin cushions with? I have always used toy stuffing but have been told I should use odd bits of cotton batting or crushed walnut shells. The cotton batting I have plenty of but the walnut shells are very evasive!!
Please help :)
